===== Projects =====

1) Simon game (http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/build-your-own-electronic-game-kit/) - newly open-sourced

2) POV watch (http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/persistence-of-vision-watch/) - will be open-sourced as soon as I find the time to clean up the code

Both are PIC-based and I haven't worked specifically with AVR before, but I've looked at the Mini-POV and TV-B-Gone code and it should be fairly straightforward to port my work to it and re-create these designs specifically for the book.

Some other projects I could do could incorporate either:

1) GPS Receiver (http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/gps-receiver/)

2) RFID Reader (http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/rfid-reader/)

Those modules have a serial interface, so the chapter could be on serial interfaces and inter-chip or inter-module communication.

===== Jeff's notes =====
Out of all of these, the [[avrbook:projects:Simon]] game seems to be the most appropriate for the book.

Emailed 4/16 to tell Joe we like Simon and give him a heads up that we are thinking of using it in the book. Joe wants to know what development tools to use. I sent him an e-mail on 4/22 to tell him to use WinAVR and USBtinyISP. May have lunch with him in next week.
